Why PH.?

Inventing the concept of  pH  in 1909 was the Dane Søren Peter Lauritz Sørensen after having had the leadership of the chemical laboratories of Carlsberg for eigth years. He was studying the effects of the acidity behaviour of the enzymes in fermentation of beer and felt the necessity of a precise measure of the proper acidity.
In photographing it is common use the abbreviation Ph. referring to photo or photographer.
To name his studio Alberto Salvagno chose the letters
PH. as he is married to a Dane, has a degree in chemistry and is a photographer.
